Sewn vs Heat-Sealed Non-Woven Bags: What Should Buyers Compare?
Two non-woven bags can share a size label and still represent different sourcing decisions. One proposal may describe sewn seams and another may describe heat-sealed or welded joins. If the buyer compares only the unit price, the quotations may not cover the same construction, handle attachment, packed use or approval standard.
The useful question is not which label sounds stronger. It is which finished bag passes the required packing and carry workflow—and whether both suppliers have priced the same specification.
Direct answer: compare evidence, not construction labels
Neither sewn nor heat-sealed construction is automatically the right choice for every order. Define the merchandise, carry route, expected use and relevant performance requirement first. Then compare equivalent finished samples with the same dimensions, material specification, handles, artwork and acceptance method.

Start with the job the bag must perform
Write a short use statement before discussing construction. Name the typical packed contents, the largest recurring pack-out, whether the bag is handed over at a counter or carried through an event, how the handles should be used and what would count as failure. A brochure kit, folded apparel purchase and rigid boxed gift create different stresses and loading paths even when their outside dimensions appear similar.
Keep the requirement measurable. “Premium,” “strong” and “heavy duty” are not acceptance tests. A buyer can instead specify the representative contents, relevant packed-weight requirement, loading orientation, carry route, number of test repetitions, observation points and rejection conditions. The supplier can then confirm what construction is proposed for that job.
What a sewn reference should help you verify
The target product is currently titled Stitched Crescent Extra-Large Non-Woven Tote Bag. Its gallery visibly shows a rounded lower outline, edge seams, long flat handles and handle attachment areas. Those photographs make the product useful as a physical sewn reference. They do not establish stitch specification, seam strength, material weight or load capacity.
On a sample, trace every joined edge from the top opening around the curved lower body. Record whether the seam route is consistent with the approved drawing, whether the finished body remains symmetrical, whether loose or skipped stitching is visible and whether the handle attachments match the approved location. Separate appearance findings from performance results: a straight seam can still require a defined packed test, while an untidy thread end does not by itself quantify carrying capacity.
What a heat-sealed proposal must make explicit
A heat-sealed or welded proposal should not be approved from the method name alone. Ask the supplier to identify the exact joining process being quoted, the seam and handle-bond locations, the finished edge profile, material specification, dimensions, tolerances and sample identity. If two suppliers use different terminology, request a construction drawing or marked sample so the comparison is physical rather than semantic.
Run the same packed-use test planned for the sewn option. Do not make one sample carry different contents or follow a shorter route. Record opening distortion, handle attachment behavior, changes at each joined edge and any failure against the same written criteria. The result applies to that tested specification and sample; it should not be generalized to every bag made with a similar method label.
Normalize the quotations before comparing price
Place both proposals into one comparison sheet. Use one row for each field: finished width, height and depth; measurement convention; material and any verified weight or thickness field; body construction; top finish; seam or bond route; handle material, width, drop and attachment; artwork revision, size and position; quantity; packing; destination; sample basis; schedule; included charges; exclusions; quote validity and approval owner.
If a cell is blank, it is not equivalent. If one quote includes a physical sample and another includes only a digital proof, flag the difference rather than treating the totals as comparable. If one supplier has changed the body proportions or handle attachment to suit its process, that is a new construction proposal that needs its own packed test.
Use the stock option as a reference, not a custom promise

A 10-Pack can support a focused pilot of the exact selected stock row: inspect the rounded seam route, load representative contents, carry it through the intended route and record the result.
That pilot does not verify a custom MOQ, a changed material, a different handle attachment or a heat-sealed version. Its value is to show which body size, packed geometry and user observations should be carried into a separate custom inquiry. When a proposed construction changes, repeat the relevant sample approval instead of inheriting the stock result.
Factory sourcing note: release one controlled comparison
Manufacturing experience is most useful when it removes ambiguity. Issue one revision-controlled comparison brief to every supplier and require each response to confirm or mark open the same fields. Attach the packed-content reference, dimensioned construction drawing, artwork revision, test method and acceptance record. Name one approval owner and one approved sample identity for each route.
This prevents a common purchasing error: choosing the lowest total from two quotations that quietly describe different bags. Price becomes meaningful only after construction scope is aligned.
Choose the route that passes your real test
Use sewn and heat-sealed as construction descriptors, not universal quality grades. Define the packed job, align every specification field, test identified finished samples under the same conditions and approve the route that meets the written requirement. The best decision is the one another buyer, supplier and inspector can reproduce from the same record.
